2910 error refreshing Hyper-V R2 servers in SCVMM SP1 B1

Hi,

We have 3 servers and 1 works fine. All are joined in AD.

Since upgrade from RC1 to SP1 B1 I cant manage 2 of the servers. We have also tried this thread http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/virtualmachingmgrhyperv/thread/4bd9be4b-0ff9-46f3-bf32-1b7c1245c494 without any improvement.

The error we get is -

"VMM does not have appropriate permissions to access the resource C:\Windows\system32\vmms.exe on the mshost2.hv1.local server.

Ensure that Virtual Machine Manager has the appropriate rights to perform this action.

ID: 2910
Details: Access is denied (0x80070005)"

Any help would be appreciated

/Mikael

VMM 2012 Error 20552 - For ISO share VMM does not have appropriate permissions to access the resource

I have included an ISO network share in my VMM 2012 library by:

  1. Library servers -> Add Library Share -> Add Unmanaged Share.
  2. I then selected the file share e.g \fs1\ISO
  3. I set the share permissions on \fs1\ISO to everyone FULL
  4. I set the NTFS permissions to read-only for the following AD accounts:
    • VMM service account
    • VMM Library account
    • HV target host machine account
    • Network service

The problem I have is I still get error the following error regarding permissions:

Error (20552) VMM does not have appropriate permissions to access the resource \\fs1.domain.local\ISO\Zabbix_2.0_x86.i686-0.0.1.preload.iso on the scvmma1.domain.local server.

Ensure that Virtual Machine Manager has the appropriate rights to perform this action. Also, verify that CredSSP authentication is currently enabled on the service configuration of the target computer scvmma1.domain.local. To enable the CredSSP on the service configuration of the target computer, run the following command from an elevated command line: winrm set winrm/config/service/auth @{CredSSP="true"}

I have also set the command on the VMM server winrm set winrm/config/service/auth @{CredSSP="true"} but no joy.

Please note the same error is thrown if i share the iso without copy, and with copying, it seems a permission issue yet I have assigned at least what i have read are the correct permissions.

Any ideas what else I have missed please?

Missing tabs from VM template properties in VMM 2012 SP1

$

One of the VM templates stored in a library had a few properties modified (Numlock, RAM, processor count) and after saving those changes, there are several tabs missing from the properties window.  I could not reproduce this on other VM templates.  Clones of this template also have the tabs missing.

The missing tabs are OS Configuration, Application Configuration and SQL Server Configuration.

TFS 2012 lab management will not allow me to create an environment using this template, stating 'Domain User Name' is an not a valid property.

How do I get the missing tabs back?

HI,

I have installed SCVMM 2012 GA build.

I am facing issue while creating Linux template for RHEL 6.2.

after I created the VM using ISO and set the operating system accordingly, the create template menu option is disabled.

only clone to template option is enabled.

is Guest customization not supported for Linux VMs?

I can do the same with SCVMM 2012 Sp1 "BETA"

is there any workaround.

Thanks.

WMI Performance Counter Error 20513

We're running SCVMM 2012 SP1 with CU1 on Windows 2008 R2 SP1. A handful of our hosts are showing this error

Error (20513)
The VMM management server cannot retrieve performance data for the computer VHOST1.mydomain.com. This issue may occur if the performance counter provider in the Virtual Machine Manager agent is corrupted.

Recommended Action
Restart the System Center Virtual Machine Manager Agent service on the computer NetVHB001.net.da.ocgov.com. This automatically restarts the performance provider. If the error persists, reinstall the VMM agent on the computer VHOST1.mydomain.com.

I've restarted the VMM service and uninstalled / reinstalled the Agent. Still seeing the errors. Is there another fix for this that someone has been successful with?

SCVMM 2012, Conntect via conosle does not work when logged in with specified credentials

Hi all

I have a problem with the SCVMM 2012 console. When I start the console I select the "Specify credentials" option and then I enter my admin credentials. Afterward the console opens and everything works except the "Connect via Console" function.

When I try to connect to a VM I get the following message:
Virtual Machine Manager lost the connection to the virtual machine for one of the following reasons: Another connection was established to the console of this machine. The virtual machine has been shut down or put into the saved state. The user credentials provided do not have the necessary privilege to connect (0x0003, 0x0300)

It seems that the Virtual Machine Viewer runs not under the admin credentials which I enter at the beginning and therefore the console cannot connect.

Has someone the same issue ? Is it by design that the console connection does not work with specified credentials or is a sort of a bug or error ?

Thx

isolated VM Network VMs not pinging if on different HyperV host

$

I have setup SCVMM 2012 with SP1 network virtualization with 2 Hosts and 4 VMs with single VM Subnets.

I have setup the network virtualization and if I have all 4 VMs on the one Host I can ping between the VMs.

The problem I have is if one of this VM or VMs are on the other Host I cannot ping

I have checked the LookupRecord and all VMs have the correct PA and CA addressing and VirtualSubnetID

If you have any idea what the issue maybe I would be very grateful.

SCVMM 2012 SP1 | VM Template on XP not joining domain

Could use some help.

Getting the following error when deploying a XP VM Template. I have tried both manual entry in OS configuration as well as using a run-as account. Both with and without DOMAIN\.

"An unexpected error has occurred while changing your computer's network identification. Would you like to proceed for now and try joining a domain later?"

Any one have a clue what I am doing wrong? Everything else about the OS Configuration / Sysprep is working fine.

VMM Agent Shuffle...

All,

Would appreciate some adviceon an issue I am having.

I have TWO SCVMM 2012 environments.

The first is where is 2012 with no service pack vmm box is a 2008 R2.  This environment started life as a vmm 2008 R2 and was upgraded to 2012.  It has 4 stand alone hosts and 2 2-node clusters.  All is funtioning well.

I built the second vmm environment after SP1 was released.  I had been wanting to replace the vmm box with new hardware and since SP1 requires 2012 server, I took the opportunity to do it.

Here's my problem:  I am moving the hosts from the old to the new environment.  (I am doing it from the new box).  Everything seems to go well during the transfer (I see the tick box to reassociate the host with the new environment) but then it bombs because the agent needs to be updated.  SO......Do I update the agent manually, OR do I first boot (remove) the host from the old environment (will doing that remove the agent?) , then join it to the new one????  I see the update agent console icons in both environments, unfortunatley the are grey-out in both as well.  Advice appreciated.  Thanks in advance.

While trying to update VMM Agent on Host it fails

The updated action is to remove the agent but when I remote to the server only the DHCP aspect was there not the actual agent. I checked Reg within the install section and it is not there at all. So I can't push the update out and I can't uninstall it locally and try the local agent install as it says there is already an agent on the system.

How can this be safely removed manually.

SCVMM 2012 SP1 Rollup 3 installed.

SCVMM 2012 - Error (25100) when removing logical network without dependancies

$

I have been trying to remove some bad old logical networks for awhile now without luck. I have gone through the dependancies and removed them all until there are no more displaying. Then I try and remove the logical network and get prompted quickly with the error (25100) below. I am guesing the only way to remove this is in the database. I have gone into the database and found the ID's for the logical networks. Just curious if anyone knows how to remove them completely from SCVMM in the most efficient and effective manor. I appreciate any help in advance!

Error (25100)
VMM is unable to delete the logical network because dependent resources, such as logical network definitions, are still associated. Contact your VMM administrator for details about this error.

Recommended Action
Remove the logical network association with all dependent resources, and then remove the logical network.

Is Win XP SP3 supported with VMM 2012 SP1 and newer

Hi

Is Windows XP SP3 supported with VMM 2012 SP1 and later? VMM agent won't install and the service deployment fails. I read at the TN site, that P2V conversion for Windows XP SP3 is not supported anymore with VMM 2012 SP1.

Thanks, Grega

Finding VM name from inside Linux Guest OS

So I know I can find the VM name of a windows machine through a registry key after the Guest Services are install.  Can I do the same thing within a Linux machine?  I have a RHEL 5.5 guest OS, with Integrated Components 2.1 installed.  Is the name of the VM stored anywhere on the system where I can access it?

SCVMM Library folders missing child folders and VMs

I've got 3 of 10 physical folders that show up in the Library Server view in SCVMM 2012.  Per the documentation of what gets indexed, the other 7 should show up as well since they contain VHD files.  This isn't the "missing" issue since they aren't even listed in Library view (as missing).  They simply aren't there at all.  Refreshing the Library doesn't bring them in.  Any ideas as to why they are not getting indexed?

thanks

Error 1067 while starting VMM agent Service in SCVMM SERVER

Hi every one

I Have Installed SCVMM SP1 BETA in Windows server 2012 RTM and managing Hyper-V Hosts.

After two three days, "System center virtual machine manager agent(SCVMM local agent)" service has stopped in SCVMM server.

I m trying to start service manually it is throwing me below mentioned Error

"Windows Could not start the system center virtual machine manager agent service on local computer"

"Error 1067: The process Terminated Unexpectedly"

I can manage all my Hosts without any problem, but my library server is  local scvmm server itself so i m not able to access Templates, ISOs etc that was created earlier.

Sql Services, connections all r running properly and Prerequisites are installed properly(WAIK of Windows 8 and SQL Command line utilities).

I tried Uninstalling and Re-installing the SCVMM SP1 BETA, it worked only for 1 day again the same problem.

I can add new library server but i don't want to do that,

Please give me suggestion to resolve this problem.

Thank & Regards
