Cannot install roll up 6.

Yesterday, I created my VMM site, did not update it but was able to access the server manager.  I installed the management console on another computer but could not access the server manager.

This morning, server manager is not running and cannot start it from services.msc.  Getting the following error:

Service cannot be started. System.Security.SecurityException: Requested registry access is not allowed.
   at Microsoft.Win32.RegistryKey.OpenSubKey(String name, Boolean writable)
at Microsoft.VirtualManager.Utils.RegistryUtils.SetRegistryValue(String key, String valueName, Object value, RegistryHive registryHive)

The Zone of the assembly that failed was:

So I tried to install roll up 6.

The administrator console update did install but I cannot get the Server update to install via Windows Update.  I keep getting the error "Installation Failure: Windows failed to install the following update with error 0x80070643: Update Rollup 6 for Microsoft System Center 2012 R2 - Virtual Machine Manager (KB3050317)."  I go to this site (https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/3050317) to download the file.  As I click on Server Update, I am taken to another page that has Microsoft Update Catalog (http://catalog.update.microsoft.com/v7/site/Install.aspx?q=3050317&referringpage=Search.aspx) where I was asked to install some Microsoft update, which I installed, but the page then just stays at the Catalog and nothing downloads.  I have tried this on a W2K12 Server and a Windows 8.1 computer.
Anyone have any thoughts
